چکیده

In the telecommunication industry the mobile operators often use connections in the microwave frequency bands. The application of these connections offers optimal solution because of easy installation and small equipment sizes. However, in addition to multipath fading, microwave links are also highly influenced by meteorological conditions, especially by rain. Because rain attenuation does not depend strongly on the station height, horizontal diversity is much more effective than vertical diversity. Intense rain showers that cause extreme attenuation occur in cells of small dimensions. Therefore the probability that two or more links have deep fade events at the same time is very small, and it strongly depends on the geometry of the network. In this contribution investigate the space and time correlation of the rain attenuation based on measured attenuation in millimetre wave links forming star topology. To develop efficient route diversity methods or site diversity strategies for cellular mobile systems deep knowledge of the spatial and time correlation statistic are essential. A.Daru Zs. Effect of Nonlinear Phase Variation in Optical Millimetre Wave Radio over Fibre Systems

In this paper, we propose an optical millimetre wave radio-over-fibre (mm-wave RoF) system that uses a dual drive Mach Zehnder modulator (DD-MZM), which is biased at the maximum transmission biasing point, to generate an optical double sideband-suppressed carrier. The input to the DD-MZM are binary phase shift keying (BPSK), quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK), 8-phase shift keying (8-PSK) and...

The Effect of Variation in Atmospheric Absorption on Millimetric, Terrestrial, Telecommunications Links

When planning the link budget for millimetre and sub-millimetre wave telecommunications links, the attenuation by atmospheric gasses is taken into account. However, at millimetric frequencies above 50 GHz, it may become necessary to account for the temporal variations in absorption when calculating fade margins. Attenuation due to atmospheric absorption varies with temperature, barometric press...

Deployment of a wireless measurement network for rain-fade evaluation on millimetre radiocommunication systems

Wireless access networks based on millimetre wavelength technologies are mainly impaired by rain. To evaluate the rain effects over a communication system, it is essential to know the temporal and spatial evolution of rainfall rate. For this reason it is necessary to develop an experimental network which provides the adequate data to study, prevent and compensate the rain fade. In this paper, a...
